Toulouse owes its nickname of “pink city” to the use of brick. Brick, known as “foraine” in Midi toulousain, has perpetuated an ancient heritage right up to the present day. It dresses the facades in warm colours, from the softest pink to flamboyant orange.<\/p>\n

Over the past two thousand years, Toulouse has been invaded, besieged, burned, occupied and liberated. The seat of the Visigoth kingdom, the Cathar City, the crossroads of the woad trade, the cradle of airmail, the capital of aeronautics… so many events that have shaped its streets, its monuments and the identity of its inhabitants.
